Here is a quick spiritual update on what the Lord is doing in my life:
There is a large hill/small mountain that stands just behind the church where we are staying. Almost every morning I wake up around 5:30am and start to walk to the top to catch the sunrise and have my quiet time. Now this hill is a major calf burner and heart rate riser. The last 15 feet or so of the climb is steep, slippery, and sometimes a struggle. Yet, at the top, there is the most breathtaking view (quite literally breathtaking from the climb!).
A few mornings ago I was at the base of this hill starting to walk to the top. I kept thinking about trying to find an easier way without the struggle of the last stretch. About halfway through I realized how applicable this walk is to my life and my relationship with God.
How often am I trying to find the easy way through life? Taking shortcuts or dodging uncomfortable situations. How often do I seek out an easier way instead of experiencing the climb the Lord has set before me? If only I would push through the struggle there is a beautiful sunrise waiting for me at the top. If only I would endure what the Lord has set before me there is a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him on the other side.
Here are a few verses that the Lord put on my heart to share:
Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
